Supporting Educator Mentors

A strong mentoring relationship can be the key to a new educator’s success and ultimately student success.  Beginning educators can gain valuable insight from the experience of a mentor. 

However, for the mentor, imparting wisdom and instructing a new educator is not often an innate skill.  It takes training and dedication.  Professional development for the educator mentors helps mentors improve coaching techniques, analysis, and planning. Mentors, like the new educators, need support.

Professional Development for Teachers

New Teacher Center

Professional development is a key part of NTC's Teacher Induction plan.  Professional development strategies range from a four day plan that focuses on "building capacity of participating teams" to a "two year program of sequenced curriculum focused on building the knowledge, skills and understandings for new teacher mentors and coaches."  Find out more information about NTC's profession development options for teachers.
