SOUTHERN OREGON

How many educators are involved?

The Southern Oregon ESD received a mentoring grant to provide support for 51 new teachers and 14 new administrators.

How is the program delivered?

Mentors work with new teachers for approximately two hours per week assisting with the many issues facing them including classroom management, effective teaching strategies, student and staff relationships, time management, and parent communication.  They also attend New Teacher Seminars with their new teachers five times throughout the year.  Within the administrative portion to the Mentor Project, Mentors meet 4 hours every three weeks with their new administrator.  They also have informal group meetings occasionally and converse via email.
